You want to go out for a really good meal again? Then read on, because I present you three restaurants that will make your palate dance!
What is luxury? There are very different answers to this question. For me it's time, peace and quiet and good food. As a mum of two very lively boys, I rarely have time to eat really well in peace, but when I do, I enjoy it very much. Today, I'm introducing you to three restaurants that I think the term luxury really applies to.
THE "GREEN ANIMAL" ON THE MIEMINGER PLATEAU: GREENVIEH
Greenvieh - when you read the name, you can already roughly imagine where the restaurant is located. Well, I had to google, but it was clear to me, it has something to do with golf. The restaurant is named after the green fee, the fee golfers have to pay to play on the course. Hopefully we all know what a cattle is, if not - please google it.
The restaurant Greenvieh is located directly next to the golf course on the beautiful Mieminger Plateau. Perfect to relax with friends on the sun terrace after a round of golf, have a drink and enjoy really good food. Of course all the "non-golfers" are welcome too. I went there with my mother. We had a wonderful evening at the Greenvieh and that even though neither of us had ever held a golf club.
The service is really excellent, the waiters are very friendly and courteous. This is an upscale establishment, but not at all pretentious. The food is excellent. I can promise you, everyone will find something here. You're in the mood for burgers? Check! Sushi? Check! Noodles, Gröstl, Schlutzkrapfen... Check! An absolute highlight is the charcoal grill. I have firmly resolved to come back soon with my husband. Delicacies like beef fillet steak or spare ribs from the herb pig marinated with BBQ sauce make his mouth water just thinking about it. "Our focus is on regional products such as Ötztaler Seesailbing, Haller Alpengarnele, game from our own hunt," explains marketing manager Tina Oberwasserlechner. Local quality that you can taste.
ZUM WILDEN MANN: TYROLEAN CUISINE AT THE LEVEL OF A GOURMET RESTAURANT
A nice contrast to the modern "Greenvieh" just presented is the "Landgasthof zum Wilden Mann". This traditional inn is located in Lans, only about ten minutes by car from Innsbruck and easy to reach by public transport. The first time I was in the Wilden Mann was with my family. Already from the outside we suspected that it was a traditional Tyrolean restaurant. As soon as we were inside, the friendly waitress answered our question about the reserved seat with the words: "Back there, directly under the Lord God" and pointed to a cozy table with a corner bench, under a cross, in a beautiful parlor. No doubt, here tradition is capitalized.
Already in the Middle Ages, the location of the Wilden Mann was an important rest stop on the Roman road on the way south. Today you can enjoy award-winning gourmet cuisine and Tyrolean inn culture here seven days a week. Since 1985, the Wilde Mann has been run as a family business by Sieglinde Schatz, her daughter and her granddaughter. They attach particular importance to regionality and prefer to support local food suppliers. The potatoes, for example, come directly from the neighbouring farm onto the plate, game comes in part from local hunting. Quality that you can taste and which has also been awarded the AMA Gastro seal.
I would also like to highlight here, in addition to the excellent and award-winning cuisine, the friendliness of the service staff. My son, a very picky boy, really wanted a Kaiserschmarrn. Stupidly, it was not on the menu, which he would not accept under any circumstances. No problem for the chef and waiter at the Wilden Mann. My little (also very wild) husband got his Schmarrn, and what can I say, it was one of the best we have ever eaten.
Anyone who wants to enjoy really good local cuisine in an authentic, typically Tyrolean, traditional ambience is in exactly the right place at the Wilden Mann.
"IS DER WEG A NO SO STETEIL, IN DIE HÖLL LOHNT'S SICH ALLAWEIL"
The food at Bistro Höll is absolutely heavenly, so don't let the name mislead you. It has nothing to do with the quality of the food, but with the location. The bistro is located at 1,000 meters above sea level, high above the roofs of Pfaffenhofen in the hamlet of Höll. A place where you certainly don't get lost by chance. Those who come here know why. "We are probably what you would call an insider tip. Our secluded location is probably also the reason for our business model: regulars instead of walk-ins."
An insider tip for all those to whom good food is important, but who don't feel like eating out: At Bistro Höll, you get decent portions at a reasonable price. Mediterranean specialities are served, with a modern interpretation: From fresh fish in a salt crust to Spanish classics like Gambas al Ajillo or Paella Marisco to the infamous Dry Aged Steak from US Beef - all of which are gourmet delicacies rarely found. Those who think they have to dress up are mistaken. There is no dress code, everything is relaxed, casual and yet you dine like in an international gourmet restaurant. A mixture that not only pleases me, but also the numerous regular customers. Since the bistro is quite small with just ten tables inside, a reservation is recommended. When the weather is good, it's also good to sit out on the panorama terrace with a view of the Hohe Munde.
There is always a reason to spoil yourself and others. The easiest way to do this is with a good meal. So grab your phone, book a table and enjoy a wonderful evening with your loved ones. You deserve this little time out.
Not the right one yet? My colleague Lea was also recently in Lans and introduces you to an excellent restaurant here.
